Educating the total artist is not a cliché at CIA. Since 1882 we've been dedicated to graduating artists and designers - recognized as thinkers and innovators. Our graduates are grounded in the basic fundamentals of art, have in-depth experience in a major area of concentration, and are exposed to a wide variety of disciplines through a cluster system.
The five year Bachelor of Arts degree is anchored by a two-year foundation program and a close relationship between majors through a cluster concept. While the primary emphasis is on studio course work, liberal arts are the threads that knit together the complete artist.
Crafts Cluster: fiber, enameling, glass, ceramics, metals
Design Cluster: illustration, medical illustration, graphic design, interior design, industrial design
Fine Arts Cluster: drawing, photography, painting, printmaking, sculpture
